The France Interpore Chapter (FIC) is the French section of the International Society for Porous Media InterPore, Established as an independent and non-profit association according to French law, the FIC aims at bringing together the French community of researchers and engineers working in the domain of porous media. The FIC will promote activities in this area by several different initiatives including symposia, workshops. A Chapter conference is organized every two years and named Journées d’Etudes des Milieux Poreux (JEMP)

The main goals of the FIC consist in making the activity of its member more visible, fostering the dissemination of knowledge developed within this community. It also aims at encouraging in-depth analysis of challenging issues related to porous media science in order to progress towards efficient and original solutions, either from a fundamental or applied point of view. The objective is also to encourage exchanges and relationships within the community and with all the different interacting entities. This aims at developing collaborative projects, fostering students involvement and improving information dissemination regarding job opportunities (teaching and research positions, post-docs, etc.).

About InterPore

The International Society for Porous Media (InterPore) is a non-profit-making independent scientific organization established in 2008. Download the InterPore Flyer

InterPore aims to advance and disseminate knowledge for the understanding, description, and modeling of natural and industrial porous media systems. Porous media are encountered in many natural and industrial systems, such as soils, aquifers, oil and gas reservoirs, biological tissues and plants, but also fuel cells, concrete, textiles, polymer composites, and in-tissue drug delivery, to name but a few.

Many of these porous systems are extremely complex. The traditional concepts, models, and algorithms developed for porous media in the geosciences are not directly applicable and there is a very strong need for tailored models, and measurement techniques. InterPore act as a platform for researchers active in modeling flow and transport in such complex porous media. InterPore aims to provide an environment in which researchers in the various industrial and natural systems mentioned above can be made aware of each other’s activities and exchange ideas so that the wheel does not have to be reinvented repeatedly.
